in pratica si tratta di aggiungere le seguenti righe in fondo al file "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf"
options snd-pcsp index=-2
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
ma da me funziona anche così:

per selezionare il device controllato dal volume in ubuntu:
System > Preferences > Sound
Scegli "Default System Tracks" = "HDA ATI SB (Alsa Mixer)"
e poi sotto "Master"
